Privacy Policy

1. What Compavo is on your phone

Compavo is a local-first nightly companion on iPhone. You create one character on the seat, talk tonight, Accept a reply, and hear a system voice replay. Compavo does not create a Compavo account. Seat history, interview answers, spoken lines, and portraits stay on this phone unless you Allow cloud help for a specific outbound path.

2. What you create

You may create or keep a CompanionProfile (name, traits, chosen system voice), TonightSession and ConversationTurn records, Accept/Edit/Reject Utterance drafts, kept MemoryNotes, optional look stills (camera or Photos), on-device talk transcripts, VoiceReplay audio produced after Accept, and a generated character portrait. A home-screen widget may show a local App Group snapshot of the seat name and last line. Compavo does not require a Compavo account and does not run an account-backed cloud backup of your seat.

3. Permissions and media

When you choose the related feature, Compavo may use:

• Camera to photograph a look you want the character to resemble
• Photos so you can pick a look from your library, and optionally save an accepted portrait back to Photos
• Microphone so you can talk to the character on the seat
• Speech recognition to turn your talk into words on this phone (Apple Speech may process the audio briefly; Compavo requests on-device recognition when available)
• Local notifications for optional seat reminders (no remote push account)

You can deny a permission and keep using features that do not need it. Microphone energy shown in the talk UI stays on this phone for animation only.

4. No In-App Purchases in this build

The reviewed build does not include StoreKit purchases, subscriptions, consumable credits, or Restore. There is no Compavo paywall in the inspected source.

5. Tracking, ads, and optional cloud AI

Compavo’s PrivacyInfo declares tracking off (NSPrivacyTracking false) with no tracking domains listed. Compavo does not display third-party ads. The reviewed sources do not wire App Tracking Transparency, Adjust, or similar advertising attribution SDKs.

Optional cloud inference runs only after you tap Allow on the first-use consent card (or later re-enable Settings → AI data sharing). Decline keeps the empty seat local — no fake interview, no fake voice, and no outbound AI. Turning AI data sharing off stops every outbound AI path immediately; the seat and saved lines still work on device. The consent card also links Privacy, Terms, and Provider policy in embedded in-app WebViews.

When allowed, Compavo may send what the feature needs for nested interview/talk, look-style vision, synthetic speech, or portrait generation:

• Tap answers and Other text, companion name/traits summaries, tonight’s line, kept MemoryNotes, and talk text you choose to send
• Optional look-photo pixels when a still is attached
• Accepted utterance text plus an internal system-voice id for speech synthesis
• Prompts needed to generate a character portrait

Those requests go to DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com) for chat/vision turns and to MiniMax for speech synthesis and portrait image generation. Compavo does not collect face data for a face profile — a look photo is a style reference. Raw microphone buffers are not uploaded as memory; on-device speech becomes text first. Compavo does not pack contacts, precise location, HealthKit data, or undeclined consent state into those requests.

6. Network and third parties

Network access may be used for consent-gated DeepSeek and MiniMax calls and for loading the in-app Privacy, Terms, and provider policy pages. There is no Compavo account backend. Apple may process Speech, Photos, Camera, Microphone, and local notification delivery under Apple’s terms.

7. Retention and deletion

Companion, turns, stills, VoiceReplay files, portraits, consent choice, and related local records remain on your device until you delete them in-app or remove the App. Removing the App removes on-device App data, including the App Group widget snapshot. Data already sent to DeepSeek or MiniMax after you Allowed sharing is handled under those providers’ retention practices.

8. Advice boundary

Compavo is a Lifestyle companion for personal conversation. It is not medical, therapeutic, legal, or emergency advice and does not guarantee companionship outcomes.
